Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has hit out at his critics who alleged that he is corrupt.
Mutua said he does not fear being arrested and investigated on allegations of corruption claiming that he is too rich to steal public funds.
He was responding to former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama who claimed he had misused public funds while purchasing county vehicles.
“I bought the vehicles at cheaper prices so that I could also buy ambulances. However, if he thinks I’m guilty he should have me arrested,” said Mutua.
The incumbent for Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission also said Mutua should be investigated on abuse of office and embezzlement of funds.
However, Mutua said he started making money while he was young and he is now rich enough not to steal public funds.
“I made Sh25 million and another Sh11 million when I started my own company. I was just 19 years then,” said Mutua.
Mutua also said he has investments outside the country, apartments in Nairobi , five-star hotel in Machakos and an aviation company.
