An armed robber was on Thursday morning gunned down by police in Kariobangi.

According to the DCI office, David Gitau Kimani was shot dead after detectives flashed him out from his hideout in Kariobangi South following a tip off from the public.

The detectives said the suspect was on the second floor of a rental house near Dr Mwenje School with an unidentified female.

Police say that upon being ordered to open the door and surrender, the two refused and Gitau started shooting at the officers, prompting them to shoot at them, killing Gitau.

“A notorious armed robber who has been terrorising residents of Tigoni, Kiambu was today morning shot dead in Kariobangi South,” said DCI.

The detectives recovered a pistol with 18 rounds of ammunition
