In preparation for the Eid Al Adha festivities on Monday, Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has donated 100 goats to
Speaking in Eastleigh, Passaris said that she saw it wise to donate the goats as it is in line with the theme of the Monday festivity.
The Nairobi Women Rep said that the initiative will not stop at that as she is looking to start a project which will create jobs for the youth.
“We can give you (Muslim youth) a project of buying young goats and then we find you land to rear them. If we buy 1,000 goats now, by the next Eid we shall have about 5,000 goats. We can export some, slaughter others, give others as offering, and others to be set aside for business,” Passaris said.
Monday will be a public holiday for all Muslims to celebrate Eid Al Adha.
Muslims mark the celebration by slaughtering a lamb, sheep, goat or a camel. This is to honour Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail. Ibrahim’s son was replaced by a lamb.
