Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has slammed the government over what he terms as engaging in petty politics instead of concentrating on helping Kenyans fight the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday, May 20, Barasa said that the Jubilee administration has failed to cushion Kenyans against the adverse effects of the pandemic, yet it has been very keen on fighting the Deputy President William Ruto.
Fight against DP Ruto
According to the lawmaker, the recent Jubilee Party woes have to solely be blamed on former Premier Raila Odinga who, he says, his main agenda to find a political truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta was to ruin the party unity.
Barasa insists that there is a political machine whose main aim is to stop DP Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambitions.
In recent Jubilee purge, DP Ruto allies have had it rough with Senators Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika ousted as Senate’s Majority Leader and Majority Whip respectively.
On Monday, May 19 the newly-appointed Majority Whip Senator Irungu Kang’ata then initiated a motion to remove Senator Kithure Kindiki- another perceived DP Ruto ally- as the house speaker.
These are, as political commentators are putting it, deliberate attempts to ensure that DP Ruto’s wings have been clipped.
