Kenya has recorded 447 new COVID-19 cases, the highest daily tally, from the 3,803 samples tested in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 8,975.
Out of the 447 new cases, 280 were males while 167 were females. The youngest patient today is a 4-year-old child and the oldest a 72-year-old.
The new cases are distributed in the counties as follows; Nairobi 131, Busia 29, Machakos 20, Taita Taveta 8, Mombasa 5, Isiolo 2, Meru 1, Kiambu 32, Migori 23, Kajiado 13, Vihiga 7, Nakuru 4, Makueni 2, Kisii 1.
64 patients have also been discharged in the last 24 hours as total COVID-19 recoveries rise to 2,657, 4 more patients have succumbed to the disease as death toll rises to 173.
Speaking after assessing the level of COVID-19 preparedness in Mombasa County, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe warned that the number of cases might rise even more as most Kenyans had been looking forward to visiting the coastal town once the cessation of movement was lifted.
