A 53-year-old male patient has gone missing at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
According to a statement from the management of the largest referral hospital in East Africa, the incidence occurred on July 20.
The patient, who was recommended for admission by doctors, is said to have been brought to the hospital by his family.
The family then left the patient under KNH’s care so as to beat the COVID-19 curfew that is currently operational.
KNH CEO Evanson Kamuri says that preliminary investigations show that the patient left the accident and emergency area while awaiting transfer to the ward.
“Upon realising that the patient was not in the hospital, we immediately contacted his next of kin to inform them of the occurrence. We also reported the matter to the police,” said Dr. Kamuri.
Investigations are still ongoing to establish his whereabouts, even as KNH promises to find the patient and connect him to his family.
