Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed as propaganda claims that he is contemplating working with Deputy President William Ruto, ahead of the 2022 General Election.
Speaking on TV47’s Mfahamu Kiongozi show on Wednesday, July 22, the former Vice President said that he has come of age in Kenya’s political arena, and that his stature does not allow him to be a presidential running mate going forward.
“I am a leader of a serious party, I haven’t heard anybody saying those claims. Do you think Kalonzo can be somebody else’s running mate again? I can’t be Raila’s running mate, Kibaki’s vice president then be a running mate again in 2022,” said Kalonzo who was recently conferred with senior counsel rank.
Kalonzo says that nobody will deter him from vying for the presidency in 2022. He says that he has milestone achievements to his name to warrant his ambitions to occupy the House on the Hill.
“It is the hope of many Kenyans that Kalonzo Musyoka vie for president. Wiper Party too has said that it will have a presidential candidate in 2022, our constitution says that the part leader is the automatic candidate,” added Kalonzo.
Kalonzo’s milestone achievements
Kalonzo exuded confidence when he was explaining why he is the right man to lead Kenya.
In 2010, he led the shuttle diplomacy across African countries and western capitals that was lobbying for current President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto cases to be tried at home and not at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In 2018, President Uhuru appointed Kalonzo to head the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) on peace in South Sudan.
Leading the JMEC, Kalonzo accomplished to broker a peace deal that saw President Salva Kiir and former rebel leader Riek Machar form a unity government.
These are some of the achievements he says make him a good leader.
