Kenya has recorded a record daily tally of coronavirus cases after 796 people tested positive in the last 24 hours.
This means that the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country has risen to 15,601.
According to Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi, the 796 cases were detected from the 6,754 samples that were tested between Wednesday and Thursday.
89% of those who tested positive for COVID-19 were asymptomatic.
All of the 796 cases are Kenyans except three who are foreigners.
Males continue to lead in the number of cases, accounting for 503 of today’s cases, while females are 293.
The youngest patient is a one-year-old while the oldest is an 87-year-old.
Today, 378 patients have recovered from the disease out of whom 199 are from the home-based care program while 179 were discharged from various hospitals across the country. The total number of recoveries now stand at 7,135
