The body of Kenyan gospel singer Ruth Matete’s husband has finally been laid to rest on Thursday, July 23 at the Lang’ata Cemetery.
John Apewajoye aka Beloved John was buried in the public cemetery in a ceremony that was attended by close family members and friends.
Beloved John’s relatives and friends who reside in Nigeria were, however, unable to attend his last send off owing to the COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Beloved John succumbed to injuries sustained after a gas explosion at their Athi River home back in April.
His body has been lying at the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary since then, after a long tussle between Ruth Matete and the Nigerian embassy who were opposed to burying him until after investigations into the death were complete.
The couple, who married in November 2019, was expecting a child when the unfortunate event happened. Ruth Matete is heavily pregnant.
