18 staffers at the State Department for Devolution have tested positive for COVID-19, this is according to Principal Secretary Charles Sunkuli.
According to an internal memo from Sunkuli, a COVID-19 mass testing exercise conducted on 23rd July, 2020 revealed that 18 officers tested positive for the disease out of the 128 samples that were tested.
Consequently, Sunkuli is now asking all staff to self-isolate for 14 days i.e from 3rd August to 16th August, 2020, in order to curb further spread of the novel coronavirus.
“I wish to thank the officers who undertook the test and since the results delayed, we need to do a further testing after two weeks,” read the memo from Sunkuli.
The officers will be required to report back on 17th August, upon which another mass testing shall be conducted.
This means that all operations and functions of the Ministry’s departments will come to a halt.
