World 3000m steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto will miss the Monaco Diamond League scheduled for August 14 after testing positive for COVID-19.
According to the Olympic chapion, he took COVID-19 test as part of the Monaco-protocol to participate in the race, unfortunately they came back positive despite not exhibiting any symptoms.
“I was planning to go for the WR [World Record]: it has stayed too long outside Kenya. As the World & Olympic Champion I feel strongly its something I should go for as well.
Kipruto thanked the principality [Monaco] for the work they have done for the upcoming race to be a success despite the COVID-19 pandemic dismantling the sporting industry.
Wishing his colleagues a wonderful competition, Kipruto promised to come back even.
