The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Friday, September 18 received an inquiry file on the Sh7.8 billion KEMSA scandal.
Upon receiving the file from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Haji formed a team of senior prosecutors to independently review the file, and submit their findings within 14 days.
The KEMSA scandal has shook the nation amid the COVID-19 pandemic where it is alleged that tenders to supply COVID-19 kits worth billions were awarded to inappropriate companies associated with politicians. What is worse is that payments were made for services not delivered.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had given investigators a one-month ultimatum to release a report on the scandal.
