DP Ruto’s Nyamira visit gets police greenlight

Police has given Deputy President (DP) William Ruto the greenlight to hold a fundraiser in Nyamira South sub County this Thursday. This follows a period of push and shove, triggered by National Security Advisory Committee’s (NSAC) announcement that all fundraisers and political gatherings must have prior permission from police.

Political observers had seen the announcement as an underhand move to muscle DP Ruto and his political allies popularly known as “Tanga Tanga.”

The Thursday event will be held at Sironga Sports ground. It will be in aid of  Boda Boda SACCO and Seventh Day Adventist church in Nyamaebe District.

Mohamed Sasura, Nyamira Police Station Ward Commander said the meeting should be conducted in strict conformity with NSAC guidelines, and COVID-19 containment protocols.
