DP Ruto slams those trying to prevent his Kisii visit, says they are fools

  • DP Ruto: “Those trying to prevent me from visiting Kisii are fools”
  • DP Ruto says his visit to Nyamira County is very deliberate in the sense that he values every Kenyans’ hustle.

Deputy President (DP) William Ruto has launched a scathing attack at those trying to sabotage his 2022 presidential ambitions.

Speaking on Thursday, October 15 during a visit to Nyamira County, DP Ruto labeled a section of leaders who are against his ‘Hustlers’ brand of politics as fools, insisting that they are hellbent on practicing the same old politics of “tribalism and segregating Kenyans”.

(Those trying to prevent me from visiting Kisii are fools…In modern Kenya, when you hear a leader who talks about his region, his people, just know that he or she is a tribalist),” said Ruto.

The former Eldoret North MP heaped praise on police officers, whom he says, are good people who are hustling like normal Kenyan.

Askari wetu ni watu wazuri, ni ma hustlers, wenye tabia mbovu ni wale wanatoa orders ati askari apigie watu teargas awatawanye. (Our police officers are very good people, who just like any other Kenyan, are hustling to feed their families. The problem is those people who are giving orders for police to teargas Kenyans),” added Ruto.

According to the second in command, his visit to Nyamira County is very deliberate in the sense that he values every Kenyans’ hustle.

Today’s functions were to be held last week, but Ruto’s plans were thwarted by police officers who dispersed residents who had gathered at the Kebirigo grounds ahead of the meeting.

Police gave Ruto the greenlight to hold the fundraiser following a period of push and shove, triggered by National Security Advisory Committee’s (NSAC) announcement that all fundraisers and political gatherings must have prior permission from police.

DP Ruto has come under sharp criticism from a section of leaders over his brand of politics of handouts. The leaders led by ODM leader Raila Odinga argue that DP Ruto is giving people fish, instead of teaching them how to fish for themselves.

It is widely assumed that patrons to Ruto’s homes in Sugoi and Karen, Nairobi, leave with their pockets bulging with bank notes.
