DP Ruto: My friend Raila, BBI reggae is fine but we must bring everybody on board

  • Ruto: We should have a robust national conversation about BBI to include everybody on board.
  • Raila: “BBI Reggae was on halftime, it will come back stronger.”
  • This year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations were held at the Gusii Stadium.

The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) drums are getting louder with each passing day.

During this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations held at the Gusii Stadium, ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga took to the podium with only one overriding theme in mind- drumming up support for the BBI.

Using his now normal analogy of ‘BBI Reggae is on halftime’ due to Coronavirus outbreak back in mid March, the former prime minister insisted that the initiative is the best thing the country could ever imagine of and that it will be back even stronger.

“Nobody can stop reggae!” affirmed Raila.

When Deputy President (DP) William Ruto took to the podium, he centered his speech on celebrating the heroes of the country. In a classic way of advancing the ‘Hustler vs Dynasty’ narrative, DP Ruto acknowledged each and every Kenyan who wakes up every morning to do his or her hustle as a Shujaa.

DP Ruto then finished his speech with a word of advice to the Opposition supremo, calling for the inclusion of every Kenyan in the BBI.

According to the former Eldoret North MP, currently, the BBI has sidelined the common mwananchi, and he is calling for “a robust national conversation to include everybody on board”.

“My friend the former prime minister told us about the Reggae, which is fine but I guess we will have a robust national conversation to include everybody on board,” said Ruto.
