2 cops arrested over killing of Dennis Lusava; suspect whose body was found floating on R. Nzoia

  • Lusava had been arrested on 7th October 2020 for what police say is “assaulting the officer in charge of Mbururu Police Patrol Base”
  • He disappeared only for his body to be found floating on River Nzoia in Webuye on October 11.
  • Examination and autopsy of the body has revealed that Lusava lost his life to blunt force trauma.

Remember the story we brought to your attention a while back about 18 suspects arrested in Likuyani in connection to the assault of Matunda Police Station OCS and the subsequent torching of Mburu Patrol Base?

Well, the story has taken a new twist following the arrest of two police officers based at Mbururu Police Post.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the two cops were arrested on Sunday, October 25 by homicide detectives investigating the suspected murder of Dennis Lusava alias Makali.

Lusava had been arrested on 7th October 2020 for what police say is “assaulting the officer in charge of Mbururu Police Patrol Base” but he was later released on a free bond at 12:40pm

He disappeared only for his body to be found floating on River Nzoia in Webuye on October 11.

Examination and autopsy of the body has revealed that Lusava lost his life to blunt force trauma.

According to Citizen TV, detectives believe Lusava was tortured by seven police officers wielding clubs and whips. Five anti-riot clubs and two electricity cables have believed to have been used on Lusava have been recovered.

The two cops are in custody as investigations continue.

Police’ account

The suspect’s mother went to the police on 8th October and reported that her son never went home after being released, whereby she was referred to the OCS of Matunda Police Station for further assistance.

The OCS accompanied the mother of the suspect to the patrol base where he found the rowdy mob of about 200 people, and his attempt to address them was all in vain.

The mob started throwing stones at him where he incurred serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The unruly mob torched the patrol base and damaged the police motor vehicle.
