President Kenyatta has signed into law the Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission amendment bill of 2019 and the County Outdoor Advertising control bill of 2020 on Wednesday, October 28.
The solicitor general Ken Ogeto together with Ken Lusaka and Justin Muturi presented the bills to the President for signature at State House.
Establishments of the amended IEBC Law
The law sets the criteria for the selection of IEBC commissioners and outlines the qualifications of members of the selection panel.
The law establishes a selection panel to oversee the filling up of vacant positions at the commission and future appointments to the electoral office.
County Outdoor Advertising Act
The Act looks at providing a uniform licensing system across all the devolved units due to the rising importance of outdoor advertising as a major revenue source for county governments.
The Act is intending to streamline outdoor advertising in counties by striking a balance between commercial, environmental and public safety.
