Machakos County Assembly Speaker Florence Mwangangi has tested positive for Coronavirus.
Mwangangi, who is the mother of Health Chief Administration Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, said that she was among the two members of the county assembly who tested positive nine days ago.
The former Judicial Service Commission commissioner says that after noticing one of her colleagues exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, she opted to have all the members of the assembly tested and her results came out positive.
Mwangangi says she is currently in self-isolation and following all the Ministry of Health guidelines, urging all Kenyans to adhere to the measures as COVID-19 is real.

Mombasa County also followed suit in October 27. A two-week recess for MCAs was extended by 14 days after seven of them tested positive for COVID-19.
Mombasa County Assembly was also shut down after it emerged that one of the workers had contracted the virus.
