TV47’s historic studio in Mombasa is now operational. The studio, which is the only county-based broadcasting outlet of any television station in Kenya, is based at the 10th floor of MKU Plaza, Nkrumah Road.

As the clock ticked towards 7pm on Friday, October 30, the state-of-the-art studio came to life with its first news bulletin: Kiswahili prime time news.

The studio, with large glass windows on the backdrop, has sweeping views of Mombasa city’s imposing skyline. It is well-equipped to handle the whole breadth of TV broadcast including news, talkshows, entertainment, and game shows. It is fully-fledged and can operate autonomously from the station’s main studio in Nairobi.

The grand opening of the ultra-modern studio was preceded by an invite-only event that was organised in strict conformity with the COVID-19 containment protocols. The luncheon meeting with various stakeholders was meant to explain how this noble idea means to the Coastal region people.
