Police in Nakuru have arrested one suspect on Saturday, November 7th for manufacturing over 500 litres of fake tomato sauce.
The suspect was raided with officers at his house in Langalanga area in Nakuru where the illegal manufacturing plant was stationed.
More than 500 litres of the fake tomato source and over 250 liters of fake chili source worth a total of Sh 100,000 was seized during the raid.
Nakuru East Sub County Police Commander Hellena Kabukuru who led the raid said they received information from the members of the public that an ongoing illicit business was carried out in the area.
Ms Kabukuru said the police further recovered bags of sugar, food colors and preservatives among other ingredients used to make the fake source.
Numerous stickers, hundreds of empty 5 litre jerry cans, and other big sufurias were recovered from the two-roomed factory.
According to the area police boss, the suspects have been running their illegal business for close to one year detection.
The said fake products, according to the officer are sold to the business people who run fast food eateries across the county.
“One suspect who was arrested at the scene is already in police custody being processed to appear in court on Monday,”said Ms Kabukuru.
