33 COVID-19 patients in Nyeri have succumbed to COVID-19 since the first case of corona in the country was reported. Nyeri county governor Mutahi Kahiga speaking during the county’s assembly address has said that 966 people have tested positive from a total of 4,700 samples taken since March.
In efforts to flatten the COVID-19 curve, governor Kahiga stated that the Nyeri county government has established a COVID-19 fund that aims at providing food to the affected families as well as providing personal protective equipment to health care workers in the county.
A section of MCAs applauded the governor for stepping up in the fight against COVID-19. However, some are still faulting governor Kahiga for not equipping all the level 4 hospitals with oxygen machines.
