President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday called upon residents of Kayole the country at large to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking when he was opening the Soweto Level II Hospital and Community Water Supply Project, President Uhuru said that BBI is Kenya’s solution to unending political hostilities among citizens every electioneering year.
Uhuru said that it was because of his handshake with ODM Leader Raila Odinga and the subsequent BBI that affords him the liberty to walk freely in Kayole, Embakasi East Constituency.
“Kama siyo handshake huyu kijana hapa Babu Owino angekuwa ananitupia mawe hapa (Were it not for the Handshake this boy here Babu Owino would be stoning my motorcade),” said President Uhuru.
President Uhuru also hinted that the Kazi Mtaani Project might be extended.
Uhuru said that youth in Uthiru, Kiamaiko and now Kayole had engaged him and urged him to extend the project that gives job opportunities to young Kenyans.
The two projects are among several other similar initiatives being rolled out by the National Government through the Nairobi Metropolitan Service so as to bring essential services closer to wananchi.
