A man was yesterday charged at Milimani Law Courts, Nairobi, for allegedly obtaining money under false pretences.
Kevin Odhiambo Obondo alias Honorable Nyalik Oselu, reportedly received Ksh1.2m from a Nairobi woman in a deal that involved the purchase of 22 apartments.
The woman is a property manager and had been introduced to “Honorable Nyalik” by a mutual friend. “The female victim believed that Odhiambo was a genuine client interested in buying 22 apartments under her management,” alleged the DCI.
It is alleged that Odhiambo “convinced the victim to facilitate the required legal and processing fees, which he would later refund after his financiers released funds for the property purchase.”
The property manager acquiesced to the request. She is said to have remitted the money to the suspect in instalments. The transactions were done through mobile money M-Pesa.
DCI alleges that Odhiambo “vanished, blocking all communications with the manager.” He was then trailed and plucked from his hideout.
