Omar Boga, the ODM Party candidate who lost in the December 15, 2020, Msambweni by-election, has landed a state job.
Water Cabinet Secretary Cecily Kariuki has appointed Boga as the Chairperson of the Coast Water Works Development Agency.
In a gazette notice dated February 26, 2021, Boga will hold the position for a period of three years.
The gazette notice said that Boga’s appointment was effective February 26, 2021.
Despite enjoying the support of ODM bigwigs in form of party leader Raila Odinga and deputy party leader Hassan Joho, Boga lost the mini-poll to an independent candidate, Feisal Bader.
Feisal garnered 15,251 votes while Boga came second with 10,444 votes.
Feisal enjoyed the support of Deputy President William Ruto and his allies.
The Msambweni parliamentary seat fell vacant after the demise of Suleiman Dori in March 2020.
