The matatu driver was caught on video insulting before vandalising a female motorist’s car was on Monday freed on a cash bail.
Appearing before the Makadara Law Courts on Monday, Fredrick Owino pleaded not guilty to charges of malicious damage and traffic offence.
Owino, a driver of the Mataara Sacco matatu registration number KCK 114P, was freed on a KSh90,000 cash bail.
He was arrested on Saturday after the video circulated on social media platforms. In the video, a man is heard spewing insults at the female motorist, before breaking her car’s windscreen.
The man is heard saying, “We nipige picha haina shida.” The lady then responds, “utaona, tusi yote…utusi yote.” The man then answers back, “Sitagharamia…sitagharamia.”
It is amid this back and forth that the man drives towards the lady’s car, smashing its windscreen, before driving off.
