Two more suspects have been arrested in connection to the murder of Caroline Wanjiku, a 38-year-old woman whose tortured body was found dumped in Kajiado.
The two suspects were nabbed at Kebuye village in Suneka, Kisii County, after detectives tracked two mobile phones previously paired with the deceased’s sim cards.
The first phone, a Samsung Galaxy A20S, was traced to a matatu tout with Safeline Sacco Kibera- Nairobi. It was in possession of Justus Nyamete Manyura alias Dennis Ongingo.
Th second phone was traced to a 17-year-old student at St. Lawrence Nyabieyo Secondary School. He was arrested too.
“Both mobile phones previously paired to Safaricom lines registered under the deceased’s particulars, and which she used in her online transactions and communication,” says the DCI.
Investigations are ongoing to establish how the two suspects got the mobile phones.
Last week’s autopsy report revealed that the businesswoman died of head injuries inflicted with a blunt object.
Four people who are suspected to be behind the kidnapping of Wanjiku have already been arrested.
The four suspects are; Edwin Otieno Odiwuor, Samwel Okoth Adinda, Stevenson Oduor Ouma and Mercy Gitiri Mongo.
Preliminary investigations reveal that prior to her disappearance, she had withdrawn KSh350,000 from a Nairobi Cooperative Bank account.
After withdrawing the money, Wanjiku is said to have met the first suspect (Edwin) at Ngara area for a business deal.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says that Wanjiku had called one of her friends to inform her/him of the meeting with Edwin.
Edwin, DCI says, was to meet Wanjiku to guide her in boosting Stima Sacco shares with the money she had withdrawn.
“Once at Ngara, Wanjiku had been forced into a waiting black KCN 300D Toyota Crown in which Edwin was waiting, before being handcuffed & sandwiched by other suspects,” says the DCI.
