Six people have been killed, seven others seriously injured after a vehicle they were travelling with was involved in a grisly accident in Njoro, Nakuru County.
It is reported that the driver of the lorry ferrying potatoes after a bumper harvest lost control of the vehicle, landing in a ditch at Muthera Farm area.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru County Police Commander Tito Kilonzi says the accident was a result of careless driving. The victims, who were farmworkers, were atop the lorry when it lost control.
Eyewitnesses say that although the lorry was not speeding, the driver tried to overtake another vehicle at a sharp bend.
“Anyone found being transported on top of a lorry carrying farm produce will be arrested. and the lorries,” says Kilonzi.
The six were crushed to death by the bag of potatoes, they died on the spot. The injured had multiple fractures fractured, with massive bleeding.
