    Two nabbed for allegedly vandalising Kenya Power transformers

    Two suspects believed to be behind a spate of vandalism of Kenya Power transformers have been arrested.

    Ken Josea Wamali and Nashon Oigo Lang’o were caught red-handed in Anyolo, Nyando sub-county, Kisumu county.

    Area chief Charles Ochieng, confirming the incident termed the vandalism as a “hindrance to development in the area.” He also thanked the police for their swift action in arresting the suspects.

    Zachary Ombati, Kenya Power chief security officer for the Western region, said the company has lost 11 transformers in Kisumu county alone.

    In the past, Kenya Power has decried vandalism of transformers, with the company’s General Manager Eng. David Mwaniki revealing that it costs Ksh500,000 to replace each.

    Ombati thanked his surveillance team and called on the public to report any suspicious activities to Kenya Power staff, police or area chief.
