A police officer attached to the General Service Unit shot himself dead after he had opened fire on his two colleagues and seriously injured them at the Chepchoina camp, Trans Nzoia county.
The GSU officers shot two of his colleague’s before turning the gun on himself. Reasons for his bizarre actions still unclear.
The two officers are said to be in stable condition and receiving medical care at the Endebes Sub-County Hospital.
The deceased identified as constable Paul Kuria Kinyanjui is said to have died instantly after the bullet pierced through his jaw.
The officers were shot as they were preparing for duty after the morning parade.
Endebes sub-county DCI boss Peter Ochieng said the three had been involved in an altercation before the incident. Reports indicate the officers had disagreed on the amount of money spent on fuelling a government car they had used to gone shopping in.
Detectives have launched further investigations into the incident.
