La Liga side Atlético Madrid suffered a scare during Tuesday’s training session after their forward Moussa Dembélé appeared to lose consciousness.
The former Fulham and Celtic forward fell backwards and lay motionless on the ground as he was stretching at the end of the training session.
Footage going round on social media showed the 24-year-old falling backwards and lying motionless on the ground.
On seeing this, teammates close to him quickly rushed to his aid before calling for help from the medical staff; they spent a number of minutes trying to resuscitate the player.
Dembélé regained consciousness and was able to walk off on his own. His condition is being closely monitored.
Atlético top the La Liga table – they are four points ahead of Barcelona and six ahead of Real Madrid.
However, the Frenchman is yet to start a single match this season since joining on loan from French football in January.
Atlético will be keen that he finds form soon heading to the last 10 games.
With Atlético chasing the La Liga title after a round of 16 exits to Chelsea, chances of Dembélé surviving the axe seems highly unlikely from head coach Siméon.
