Slain National Land Commission (NLC) deputy director of communications Jennifer Wambua was on Wednesday laid to rest.
The late Wambua’s funeral service took place at the Machakos Golf Club and later laid to rest at her home.
Before her cruel death, Wambua had previously served as the Kenya News Agency bureau chief in Machakos.
She went missing on 12th March, 2021 but three days later, her lifeless body was found at City Mortuary in Nairobi County. Police say that a herder in Kerarapon, Ngong Forest, and informed them.
Her disappearance came just four days before she was to take the stand as a witness in a corruption case.
On 17th March 2021, she was to testify in a case involving Lugari MP Ayub Savula, former Ministry of Information PS Sammy Itemere, Dennis Chebitwey, and others who are accused of stealing KSh122,335,500 from the Government Advertising Agency (GAA).
Autopsy results on her body revealed that she was strangled to death by hands. Her body had bruises on the face and legs.
“She died a very cruel death. She has a lot of injuries on her body, from her legs to the shoulder.” Makueni MP, Dan Maanzo, said.
