The Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrested a man who allegedly killed four women and a baby before burning their bodies.
23-year-old Musa Musaasizi, alias, Uncle, is said to have had sexual intercourse with all the four women, before strangling them to death and dumping them within his locality in Rubaga Division, Kampala City.
The Director of Crime Intelligence Brig Christopher Ddamulira said that they managed to arrest the serial killer and trace back the murders using some newly acquired security technology under a certain CCTV camera project.
“We arrested him and we have handed him over to Old Kampala Police Station for further processing and visiting the crime scenes,” Ddamulira said.
He added that the suspect had confessed to the killings and was aiding them in tracing back to the crime scenes.
Out of the four women, only two had been identified as Elizabeth Mutesi, 21, and Mackline Ahereza, 21.
Musaasizi was taken to Mwanga II Magistrates Court where he recorded his statement on extrajudicial killings charges against him.
The suspect narrated the series of killings during his interrogation with detectives as if in a horror movie.
“I killed my girlfriend Aheereza on February 22, 2021 after suspecting that she was having an extramarital affair,” he told the detectives.
In a well orchestrated plan, he allegedly strangled her then put her body in a suitcase.
He then took the suitcase, sought an unsuspecting motorbike rider heading to Kobil Petrol Station where he bought 5 litres of paraffin, and proceeded to Stone View estate.
Before getting there, the suspect alighted with the suitcase, telling the rider to wait for him by the road.
He veered off out of sight where he opened the suitcase and lit the body, then returned home with the rider.
His second victim only identified as Kansiime met her death on March 13, 2021 at his Nakulabye home.
Musaasizi claimed that Kansiime was with his girlfriend, and had offered to take care of her despite bearing another man’s child.
“I fell in love with her while she was pregnant. Her then-boyfriend had abandoned her. Even after she gave birth, I have been taking care of her,” he narrated.
He got upset, however, when she allegedly began communicating with other men over the phone, and was hurt by her ‘betrayal’ after offering to take care of her and her child.
That day, Kansiime and her child visited Musaasizi at his home where he allegedly strangled them, and put the baby’s body in a bag and dumped it immediately near the National Housing building in Makerere.
On his way home, he bought some paraffin at Kobil petrol station.
At around 2 am that night, he received help from others unidentified in dumping Kansiime’s body near the Kasubi Tombs, and lit it using paraffin.
Barely three days later, Musaasizi is said to have killed a Noreen in what he claims to “be an evil spirit that attacked and ordered him to end her life.”
This time round however, he used petrol to torch her body.
According to his statement, on March 16, Musaasizi is said to have invited Elizabeth Mutesi, 21, to have a “good time.”
“She came to my house at around 9pm. She asked for some UShs 50,000 to plait her hair which I gave her, then we got intimate,” Musaasizi said.
Later, Mutesi would allegedly request to return home but Musaasizi would have none of it.
He instead strangled her and dump her body away from his house where he also burnt it.
Musaasizi further revealed that all mobile phones belonging to the victims were dumped in a pit latrine where he lives.
Criminal Investigations Directorate spokesperson Charles Twiine said that they were still searching his home and areas where he allegedly dumped the bodies.
