Celebrated journalist Robin Njogu was on Saturday laid to rest at his Sibanga farm, Trans Nzoia County.
Njogu succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday, March 16. He had been receiving treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi, for a month.
In an emotional sendoff, Njogu’s children eulogised their dad as their role model with an infectious smile. ”We will always remember your smile, your caring heart and above all the warm embrace you always gave us. He was our role model as he showed us the way and also led the way. We love you and we will always do.”
Hundreds of mourners converged to accord the veteran journalist his last respects, among them Victor Bwire, Head of Media Development and Strategy at the Media Council of Kenya, and Citizen TV’s Linus Kakai and Joe Ageyo.
“He was a talented and gifted personality who will be missed in the profession. I urge colleagues to emulate his high standards and level of professionalism to enable the industry to move forward,” said Bwire.
Area MP Joshua Kutuny and his Kiminini counterpart Chris Wamalwa were also present.
Njogu’s mother Teresia, who passed away just two days before her son, was laid to rest on Saturday, March 20, in Cherangany, Trans Nzoia County. She died at 79.
