The government has given a leeway to Kenyans who may wish to travel in and out of the Covid-19 red zones.
Those who wish to commute into or from the counties of Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Kiambu and Nakuru have between now and 8pm tomorrow, said Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna in a press briefing this morning.
Oguna said the move will allow Kenyans who may be stranded away from workplaces to transition, and college students to head back home.
“This is also for students who may want to travel home after the closure of schools,” Oguna said.
The SGR and flight ticket holders have also been awarded two more days to complete their journies after which all the train and flights shall be suspended till further notice.
Oguna has further clarified that those who had obtained special curfew passage shall continue using the same old letters until new ones are issued on Tuesday next week.
“Individuals who are holders of curfew passes will continue to use the old passes until new ones are issued. This applies to healthcare workers, and journalists, among others,” Oguna said.
