Investigations into the murder of slain National Land Commission (NLC) official Jennifer Wambua has taken a fresh twist.
It is now emerging that some KSh2 million was withdrawn from her account just two days before she went missing.
Detectives have established that the money was sent to Wambua by NLC, to pay suppliers of goods and services offered during the commission’s launch of the 2021-26 strategic plan.
Wambua was NLC’s deputy director of communication and was in charge of the launch of the strategic plan, which was commissioned on March 5, 2021.
NLC intends to spend KSh20.7 billion between 2021-2026 to help promote among others, good land governance and research.
The sleuths have already established that the suppliers have not been paid, and are trying to ascertain if Wambua’s death has links to the money.
So far, no one has been arrested over the murder despite the long questioning sessions by the detectives at the DCI headquarters.
Wambua was a key witness in a corruption case where Lugari MP Ayub Savula and 19 others have been charged with KSh122 million fraud at the Government Advertising Agency.
