Kenya National Highway Authorities (KeNHA) will temporarily close a section of Thika Superhighway this Sunday.
The service lane along the Ruiru Toll Station, next to St. Teresa’s of Avila Catholic Church, will be inaccessible on Sunday April, 4.
The service lane runs parallel to the superhighway. It is often bus with vehicles and motorcycles and links several petrol stations.
KeNHA is currently conducting major improvement works on the highway in preparation for the roll out of the planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. The works are on the pick-up and drop-off points for high-capacity express buses. These points are being linked to footbridges to ease access for pedestrian-commuters.
The BRT system is part of an integrated public transport service linked to Nairobi Commuter Rail Network, whose commuter stations are in Kikuyu, Embakasi Village, Pipeline, Donholm, Dandora, Kahawa, Ruiru, Athi River, Githurai and Mwiki.
