Violet Asela Emu, aka Zian Achana, who was arrested over the murder of KDF officer Daniel Omollo Onyango, once claimed to be singer Akothee’s sister .
Appearing on TV47’s weekly entertainment show ‘Bomba La Sanaa’ last month, Achana, a struggling pop artiste said, “Yes, she is my sister lakini bado hawaja tu-introduce to each other bado.”
“Ile kabisa ya damu?” prodded show host Tony Mwirigi.
“Yes,” she replied. It was not clear who she was referrring to as “they”.
Achana was donning pink stunners and a gilded hair-do matching her blouse. She said she began her foray into the secular music industry last year after realising she wasn’t making any headway as a gospel singer.
Achana, 27, is now in police custody awaiting arraignment on Tuesday.
Reports indicate she was involved in a vicious fight with Omollo, 37, that saw the pair bite one another. Omollo was based in KDF Gilgil and routinely travelled to Kahawa Wendani, where they lived in a two-bedroom house.
According to the Nation, Omollo arrived home on Saturday night with a lot of questions on his mind. Achana had recently rented out a separate one bedroom house in Mirema drive, Kasarani, ostensibly for her music business. Omollo read more into it and demanded “to know who pays the rent and who the other tenants are.”
Omollo is said to have been so piqued that he refused to take the supper prepared by his wife that evening. The 1am tiff disintegrated into a shouting match, and later, a biting contest in which Omollo is said to have struck his wife on the shoulder while Achama reciprocated with bites on the fingers, chest and shoulder.
Achana reportedly called Kahawa Garrison’s health centre and asked for an ambulance. In the meantime, she loaded Omollo, now bleeding profusely, into a Toyota Vitz and headed for the hospital. According to the Nation, they met with the ambulance along the way, whereupon a nurse on board immediately checked on Omollo.
“The nurse pronounced him dead and asked them to go back home with the body and call the police,” a witness is quoted as saying.
Police were informed of Omollo’s demise at around 7:40am. Achana was arrested while the deceased’s body was moved to Forces Memorial in Mbagathi, awaiting post-mortem. Police have since barricaded the house as investigations commence.
