    Senior army uniform and MOCCASINS: Suspected fraudsters smoked out after conning victim KSh350,000

    Three people have been in arrested Nairobi after allegedly obtaining Ksh350,000 on false pretences.

    Elisha Onyango, Derrick Nyakundi and Amos Mutuku are said to have promised one Mbabu John they would assist his son get a job in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

    One of the suspects was found donning full military uniform, of rank of a Major. But on his feet, he wore a pair of black moccasins – the kind you pick at an exhibition stall in Nairobi for a song-, not standard issue military boots.

    A fake recruitment letter was found in their possession. In addition, the suspects had admission letters to RTS Eldoret (Moi Barracks), Military Course of Action, and military training certificates belonging to different individuals.

    The suspect found donning a Major’s uniform will be additionally charged with impersonation and being in possession of government stores.

    The three are at Kasarani Police Station awaiting arraignment in court.
