The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) now says that no person has died after being injected with the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

In a statement to the press on Wednesday afternoon, the board says that there was a misreporting of an Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI) as fatal.

The board had on Wednesday morning announced that a probe had been launched after one person died after taking the COVID-19 jab.

According to Dr. Peter Ikamati, Deputy Director, PER, at the PPB, the death could have been caused by a miscarriage and not the vaccine.

According to the board, of the 279 AEFI cases reported so far, 272 were mild and resolved within a short period.

All reported AEFI are under investigations and none of them, has resulted into fatal outcomes. Indeed, the seven serious AEFI have been reported as resolved,” reads the statement from the board.
