Police in Kesumet village, Kabartonjo, Baringo County, have rescued two infants who were aborted and dumped inside a pit latrine.
One of the infants was pronounced dead at the local Bartabwa Health Centre, while the other was referred to Baringo County Referral Hospital.
DCI detectives say a 15-year-old girl believed to be the children’s mother has been arrested and “will be processed for her crime, in strict conformity to the law.”
The officers were responding to an infanticide report by the local Assistant Chief Joshua Kiptosok. Thinking that the aborted twins were just foetuses, the detectives “hastily demolished the pit latrine … only to discover that there were two infants immersed in the sludge of human waste. “
The discovery triggered celebration among the curious villagers. The infant at Baringo County Referral Hospital is expected to sail through.
