Detectives have arrested a man who allegedly killed his son as he was attempting to board a flight to Qatar.
Nehemiah Asiago 41, had been on the radar of DCI detectives since he reportedly decapitated his son Byron Asiago in June last year.
“In an incident that shocked villagers of Bomakombi in Suneka (Kisii County), Asiago killed his son after a domestic squabble and immediately went into hiding,” the detectives say. “Byron’s brother told detectives that a disagreement arose after their father who was intoxicated, demanded to know what he had brought home from his day at the local centre.”
“Incensed by his father’s remarks since he was jobless and had gone to look for a job that didn’t come by, Byron posed a similar question to his father, asking him what he had to show for his day’s activities other than returning home in a drunken stupor.”
This prompted a scuffle that ended in death. “Since then, Nehemiah went into hiding and has been operating between Nakuru and Nairobi until today afternoon, when our hawk-eyed sleuths pounced on him as he was preparing to fly out,” adds DCI.
Asiago is being interrogated as police prepare to present him to court to answer murder charges.
