Nairobi politician Ibrahim Ahmed (Johnny) is dead.
Johnny died this morning. He had reportedly been battling kidney ailment for some time.
Johnny was the Deputy Secretary of the Jamia Mosque Committee. In the 2012 general elections, Johnny run for the Kamukunji parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket.
Friends have taken to social media to eulogise him.
“I met Ibrahim Johnny in 1988 in UoN Law Class and we’ve been friends since,” said Nairobi lawyer Donald Kipkorir. “He was a conscientious man. He was a religious man. He was very loyal to Baba and ODM. Johnny had been unwell for many years. Let’s mourn and celebrate his life. Let’s not tar it with gossip and conjecture.”
The gossip and conjecture revolve around the fact that Johnny was among the first Kenyans to receive the controversial Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine.
“We share a WhatsApp group where our friend was active up till 9.30pm or so. Didn’t know he may have been unwell. Always very active, frank in expressing self, friendly. May your Soul find Peace, Ndugu!” wrote Silas Jakakimba.
Johnny will be buried today in line with Muslim customs
