Maralal High School Principal Wycliffe Ndunya Kiveu succumbed to COVID-19 complications on Monday, April 12 morning.
Dr Kiveu died while receiving treatment at Nakuru Nursing Home. He had been admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since last week after developing breathing difficulties.
“It is unfortunate that the teaching fraternity has lost a hardworking teacher to the deadly virus after he developed breathing complications last week,” Samburu County Teachers Service Commission Director Jane Mutua told the Nation.
It is now emerging that the teacher had been in contact with several officials who have been administering the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations at Maralal High School.
His family says that Dr Kiveu was vaccinated against the virus about two weeks ago.
The late principal previously worked at Friends School Kamusinga as a class teacher. He was then promoted to principal of Milo Boys, then principal Ingotse Boys, principal Ngere Boys, before moving to Maralal High School in the same capacity.
