Real Madrid will face Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League semi finals after eliminating reigning English Premier League champions Liverpool 3-1 on aggregate.
First leg goals from Vinicius Junior and Marco Asensio were enough for Zinedine Zidane men to make it to the last four. Heading into the match, Liverpool needed to score two goals to go through, having lost the first leg in Madrid.
The Reds will look back with regret on the disappointing display though they had a number of clear-cut chances. Mohamed Salah failed to convert a Sadio Mane square pass inside two minutes as the hosts started at a frenetic pace, his first-time attempt aimed straight at Thibaut Courtois.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have booked their semi final slot after sealing a 4-2 aggregate victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Leading 2-1 from the first leg, City found themselves trailing when 17-year-old England international Jude Bellingham curled in a superb shot from the edge of the box to give Borrusia the lead.
Dortmund’s lead lasted only one half as Emre Can was penalized for handling in the box and Mahrez stepped up to level terms for City. Phil Foden fired the visitors into the lead with 15 minutes to go, according Pep Guardiola’s men a 4-2 aggregate win.
The win means that Guardiola has reached his eigth Champions League semi-final in his managerial career. City has reached the semis for the second time in their history.
City will now face Paris Saint Germain who eliminated defending champions Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
The first legs of the semis will be played on April 27, the second on May 4, 2021.
