Alexander Lacazette scored a brace as Arsenal crushed Czech champions Slavia Prague 4-0 to book their Europa league semifinal slot, while Manchester United run riot at home against Granada to proceed to the final four.
With Europa League being the only hope Arsenal has for qualifying for European football next season, the gunners produced one of their best first-half performances after netting three times.
Nicolas Pepe squeezed home at the near post to open the scoring in the 18th minute before Alexandre Lacazette converted a penalty three minutes later following a foul on Bukayo Saka. Saka coolly swept in the third as Arsenal tore their Czech opponents apart once more.
Lacazette doubled his tally for the night in the 77 minute to complete a fine 4-0 victory (5-1 aggregate) following their 1-1 draw at Emirates in the first leg. Arsenal will now face Spanish side Villarreal in the semi-finals.
United For Semis
Elsewhere, Manchester United crushed Granada 2-0 to complete a 4-0 aggregate win over the Spanish side and book their semi-finals slot.
Leading 2-0 from the first leg, Edinson Cavani gave the United the lead after only six minutes into the game when he provided a smart finish to Paul Pogba’s sixth-minute flicked header. United scored a second in stoppage time when Jesus Vallejo turned Alex Telles’ cross into his own net.
United will now face AS Roma in the semi-finals.
