The year 2021 has been marred with cases of brutal murders that have shocked the nation.
Starting from the Kiambu murder, where a 22-year-old student is accused of killing his father, mother, brother, nephew and their farmhand in a plot only drawn in the series “Killing Eve”. Another man in Kayole, Nairobi, is accused of tying his estranged girlfriend to the bed, before setting her house on fire.
Just the other day, a mutilated body of a woman was found abandoned inside a car at Witeithie in Juja, Kiambu County. The eyes of Cathering Nyokabi had been gouged out and had visible injuries around the neck and hands. His lover has confessed to killing her in a lover story gone sour.
In our neighbouring Tanzania, police have arrested an 18-year-old woman who is accused of killing her husband on Wednesday, April 14.
A machete-wielding Happy Nyasumo fatally hacked her husband, Bebe Mbogo, 26, in the neck in their Majimoto home in Serengeti.
In a damning confession to the police, Nyasumo says that her parents had forced her to marry Mbogo, killing him out of resentment.
Even more surprising is the fact that the incident happened just two weeks after their lavish wedding. The couple tied the knot on March 31, 2021.
How she executed the murder
It is reported that Nyasumo had told her parents of her intention to end the new marriage, but the parents objected to her plans, saying “there was no way they would surrender the cows Mbogo had given them as dowry.”
Majimoto Councilor Johannes Masirori, who happens to be the deceased’s uncle, says Nyasumo stabbed her husband three times in the neck after Mbogo allegedly forced her to have sex with him.
In murder most foul, the teenager waited for her husband to sleep before ambushing him.
After committing the felony, Nyasumo reportedly went to her mother-in-law’s house, and started eating food, all this while she was displaying the bloody machete she had used to end Mbogo’s life.
