Residents of Nairobi’s Eastlands area have a reason to smile after the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced the a road project that will see major roads receive a facelift.
KURA says that it has already embarked on a project dubbed Informal Settlement Road Upgrade Project, that will benefit roads in areas of Utawala, Dandora, Mihango and Ruai.
According to the authority, they are doing a total of 40 kilometres road network. “We are coming to your area very soon.”
Project extends past Eastlands
The project also extends past Eastlands to Roysambu and Githurai areas, where a total of 107 kilometres so as to ensure the area is well connected.
The programme targets informal and densely populated ares.
On February 2021, KURA also announced that roads in Nairobi’s informal settlements will soon have walkways and cycle lanes.
As part of the ongoing construction of 408 kilometres of access roads across the Nairobi Metropolitan area, KURA said that already 22 kilometres had been completed.
