Four people are receiving treatment at the Murang’a Level 5 Hospital after they sustained injuries in a grisly road accident in Makuyu near Murang’a town on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred when a Nissan Navara double cabin collided head on with a personal car which was heading in the opposite direction.
The driver of the pick-up truck is believed to have stolen it from Kenol town in Maragua Constituency. He was running away from boda boda riders who were trailing him all the way from Kenol, an estimated 30 kilometres distance.
Murang’a County Police Commander Donatha Kiplangat said the suspect had hit two other vehicles along the road as he was speeding but the victims are in stable condition.
The suspect who was receiving treatment at the same hospital will be taken to Murang’a Police Station where he will be placed under lawful custody as investigations continue.
Stephen Karanja, the owner of the stolen vehicle, said he had parked it outside a bank as he went in to do some transactions.
When he got outside, however, he did not find the vehicle where he had parked but saw it being driven towards Murang’a. He raised alarm prompting some boda boda operators to chase after the vehicle.
