Wajir County Governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud was on Tuesday, April 27 impeached.
The embattled governor was impeached on grounds of financial impropriety, abuse of office, gross misconduct, and violation of the Constitution.
Thirty-seven (37) MCAs voted in favour of his ouster while ten (10) opposed the move.
The County Assembly Speaker Ibrahim Yakub will now forward the assembly’s deliberations to the Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.
Court orders on Wajir impeachment
The High Court had however issued a conservatory order suspending the impeachment motion by the County Assembly.
The court orders notwithstanding, after receiving the assembly’s deliberations the Senate will decide whether Governor Mohamud will be subjected to grilling by the whole house or a plenary.
