Police in Kabras, Kakamega County, are investigating an incident where a police officer attached to Kabras Police station allegedly assaulted his wife.
The victim, a 31-year-old woman who is currently admitted at Royo Hospital in Malava town says her husband attacked her while he was inquiring about the whereabouts of his car.
“It is not the first time he has assaulted me, he has been doing it on many occasions,” she said.
Kakamega North Police Commander Paul Mwenda has confirmed the incident and said that the matter is under investigation.
“If it is true she was assaulted by the officer, we shall take action against him and ensure the hospital bill is cleared,” Mwenda said.
Domestic violence among police officers has been on the rise something that prompted plans by Interior Ministry to ban intimate relationships among police officers.
